Membership Eligibility Requirements

Per the by-laws of Selfreliance Association only persons of Ukrainian ancestry are eligible for membership.
You must be able to document your eligibility.

To verify your qualifications for membership, call us at 212-777-1336 or stop in at 98 Second Avenue in New York City. Once you have been accepted for membership in the Selfreliance Association you can become a member of Self Reliance New York Federal Credit Union.

Our Mission

To preserve and promote awareness of Ukrainian cultural heritage and promote knowledge of Ukrainian language, culture, and traditions.

To foster and maintain an active and vibrant Ukrainian American community.

To render assistance to members of the Ukrainian American community in providing social services on an as-needed basis.

Our Program

The Association houses (maintains) a Ukrainian library, accessible 5 days a week.
Conducts seminars on a variety of contemporary topics for members.
Conducts regular weekly senior meetings with exercise classes and other activities.
Organizes social excursions and events throughout the year.

The Association sponsors the Saturday Ukrainian Heritage School with educational programs that range from nursery school through twelfth grade providing instruction in Ukrainian language, literature, history, geography, music, and culture.
Since 1951, the Association is the sole sponsor of the Self Reliance New York Federal Credit Union (SRNYFCU). Members of the Association are eligible to open an account at the credit union. SRNYFCU has consistently been a major source of financial support for the Ukrainian American community.
